Plan Your Move in London Without the Stress – Powerful Guide

Areas We Cover

Edward Miles plans and carries out removals across central London, south-west London and Surrey. We work from two depots: Battersea serves south-west London, Richmond and Surrey, and Slough serves central and west London.

The same team, crews and standards cover every area on this page. Moves of fine furniture, art and antiques are planned in detail from the first survey, whichever depot handles your move.

If your area isn’t listed, call us anyway. We regularly move clients across the UK and overseas.

Battersea depot – south-west London, Richmond and Surrey

South West London: Battersea, Nine Elms, Wandsworth, Wimbledon and Wimbledon Park

Apartment moves  in Battersea and Nine Elms can involve loading bays, booked lift access and coordination with a concierge or building manager. Before moving day, it is helpful to establish any delivery restrictions, lift dimensions and the distance between the vehicle and the entrance.

Across Wandsworth and Wimbledon, access considerations may include narrow hallways, stairs and limited parking outside the property. Our planning takes these details into account, including whether loading arrangements or parking suspensions need to be organised in advance.

Richmond and the Thames: Richmond, Mortlake, St Margarets, Twickenham, Teddington, Hampton and Kingston upon Thames

Moving from a period home or a property with restricted access requires careful preparation, particularly when larger furniture needs to pass through tight doorways or around staircase turns. Riverside locations can also involve a longer carrying distance between the property and a suitable loading point.

During the survey, we assess access at your property and consider the vehicle and equipment needed. Please highlight shared entrances, private access roads or restrictions at your destination too, so both collection and delivery can be planned properly.

Surrey: Esher, Cobham, Weybridge and Walton-on-Thames

Alongside the main rooms, a house move may include belongings in garages, lofts, sheds and garden buildings. Including these spaces in the survey helps us establish the full volume of the move and allow enough time for packing and loading.

For customers moving between London and Surrey, we can discuss packing, temporary storage and delivery arrangements together. Where completion dates do not align, or renovation work affects when you can move in, tell us which belongings you will need first so we can plan around your priorities.

Slough depot – central and west London

Prime Central London: Mayfair, Belgravia, Knightsbridge, St James’s, Pimlico and Victoria

Edward Miles plans house moves around the access and timing requirements of each property. Loading restrictions, parking suspensions and building management arrangements can affect when a vehicle can arrive and how long the team has to complete the work.

Before moving day, we establish which permissions and bookings are needed and agree who will arrange them. Please flag any porter or concierge requirements, restricted entrances or mews access during your survey, so these can be considered alongside packing and transport.

Kensington and Chelsea: The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, including Kensington, South Kensington, Chelsea, Holland Park and Notting Hill, plus neighbouring Fulham and Hammersmith

Properties across these areas can present very different moving conditions, from townhouses with several flights of stairs to mansion flats with shared entrances and compact lifts. Assessing doorways, landings and staircase turns helps us determine how larger items can be moved safely and whether furniture needs dismantling.

During packing, we select protection suited to each item, with specialist wrapping and bespoke crating available for delicate artwork, antiques and fine furniture where required. Let us know about particularly valuable or awkward pieces during the survey, so their handling can be planned before moving day.

Marylebone and North-west London: Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Paddington, Maida Vale and St John’s Wood

Access to mansion flats and apartment buildings may depend on agreed moving hours, lift reservations and rules for using communal spaces. Even where parking is available nearby, the route from the vehicle to your front door can affect the time and equipment needed.

Our team plans around the confirmed arrangements, including any requirements for protecting shared hallways or keeping entrances clear. For house moves, we also assess driveway access, steps and the position of larger furniture, helping us prepare for both collection and delivery.

One number for every area

Regardless of which depot is closest to you, one team takes your call. We’ll arrange a survey, in person or by video, and send a written quote with the move planned in detail.

It helps to have your collection and delivery postcodes, preferred moving date and a brief outline of what needs moving. Please also mention any stairs, lifts, restricted entrances or particularly large or delicate items.
